Advanced Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Behavioral Counseling Institute
May 24-26, 2010 Minneaspolis, MNL
This institute is designed for dietitians and nurses working in a clinical setting who would like to increase their skills in counseling patients and their families.
- Emphasis on treating childhood obesity but will be applicable to all counseling settings
- Individuals participating should have basic skills in behavioral counseling/MI.
- Training includes a 2 ½ day on-site institute that will allow participants to practice clinical skills and receive feed back.
- Pre-institute work includes reading articles and video viewing.
- Each participant will be expected to send in a tape of a 10-15 minute interview before attending the on-site program.
- Participants will receive individual feedback on their counseling skills.
Cost: $275- (Program limited to only 20 people to allow hands on training)
NOTE: University of Minnesota will also offer graduate credit for this program. If you are interested in this, please let us know and we will send you the appropriate registration information and costs.
CPE: 30 hours of CPE has been requested from the American Dietetic Association (10 hours pre-institute work/self study plus 20 hours on-site)
